His current role as Legislative/Government affairs representative and his past experiences gives him unique insights into both state and national contexts relating to the future of work here in Hawaii. Jason is the current Legislative/Government Affairs Representative for the ILWU Local 142 which represents workers in tourism, longshore, agriculture and general trades. In his role, Jason advocates for working families and economic justice. Before the ILWU Local 142, Jason was the Political Director for the Hawaii State AFL-CIO and worked for Senator Inouye in Washington, D.C. when Senator Inouye was the Chair of the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. Jason was born and raised in Hawaii and is a proud graduate of Hawaii's public schools, graduating from Kalaheo High School. He went on to get his degree in Political Science at Northern Arizona University.
